This one is a work in progress - and we're proud to show it. We just wrapped the LVP flooring install on this East Grand Rapids basement, partnering with Grand Rapids Contracting to get it done right. The floor is down, it's looking clean, and the space already feels like somewhere you'd actually want to spend time.
Here's what we were working with - a basement that had good bones but needed a serious update from the ground up. LVP was the right call here. It handles moisture better than hardwood, holds up under heavy foot traffic, and still gives you that warm, wood-look finish that works in almost any space. For a lower level that sees everyday living, it checks every box.
We ran the same flooring through the adjacent bathroom too, keeping everything consistent and cohesive. That kind of continuity matters. When flooring flows from one room to the next without awkward transitions, the whole level just feels more intentional and finished.
We'll be back to complete the trim work and build out some custom built-ins that'll really tie the space together. That's where our finish carpentry work comes in - and it's honestly one of our favorite parts of a project like this. The floor sets the foundation, but the built-ins and trim are what make a room feel custom.
Basements are some of the most underused square footage in a home. With the right flooring, some thoughtful carpentry, and a solid remodeling plan, they can easily become one of the best spaces in the house. This one is well on its way.
