Here's what we were working with at the start - an old deck gone, footings dug, the yard taped off and cleared out. It looked like a construction zone, because it was. That's exactly where a job like this needs to begin. No shortcuts on the prep work.

Once the framing was in and the composite boards started going down, it came together fast. The decking has a clean wood-grain texture in a warm gray-brown tone that looks sharp without needing any staining, sealing, or annual upkeep. That's the whole point of composite - it just holds up.

We paired it with black aluminum railing around the perimeter. That combo - the lighter decking against the dark railing - gives the whole space a finished, intentional look. It's not just functional, it actually looks good. The homeowners now have room to grill, set up the lounge chairs, let the kids use their little picnic table, and still have space left over.

That's the thing about a well-built deck. It doesn't just add square footage - it changes how you use your home. This family in Zeeland went from a torn-up backyard to a spot they're actually spending time in. That's the goal on every outdoor living build we do.

Composite decking isn't always the cheapest option upfront, but the math works out over time. No rotting boards, no annual painting, no splinters. It's a space that looks as good years from now as it does on day one.
